Introducing Elite Athlete: Chris Mocko

Born and raised in Northern Virginia, Chris Mocko escaped the humidity and nasty winters to make a more comfortable life for himself in San Francisco, where 70-degree training days and local, organic, farm-raised, gluten-free, non-GMO foods are the norm…not the exception.

His mornings, evenings and weekends are dedicated to running and getting ready for his next marathon. He’s won his weight in wine at the Napa Valley Marathon three times (over 180 bottles!) and once made the terrible decision to participate in a 24-hour race where he struggled through 127 miles around a 1-mile loop.

With the year swiftly coming to a close, Chris is most looking forward to competing in the NYC Marathon in early November and the Boston Marathon next spring.

Hobbies: Are you supposed to have hobbies outside of running?

Post-run meal: Pancakes. Lots of pancakes.
Best race: Bay 2 Breakers – costumes, streakers, massive mid-race hill climb, and mimosas at 8am – what else could you want?
